In trying to think what gave me my "sense of place", it dawned on me that everything I need and love is squished in to the technology of my smart phone.
- contacts (friends and family)
- navigation (maps)
- money ('apple pay' and banking apps)
- pictures (downloaded, screenshot, videos, camera, editing)
- functions (calculator, alarm, calendar, timer, clock, weather, torch)
- communication (wifi, service, calls, text, message apps)
It was interesting to learn that a vast number of the population have the 'love' of their smart phone as I do- and I discovered that is was so common, that some develop a phobia to the thought of being without their phone. This is called nomophobia.
66% of the population identity themselves with this phobia. With the average number of phone checks per day at 34 times.
In knowledge of this new craze of 'addiction' I'm going to set up a personal tracking of smart phone behaviours; to contrast and compare statistics to my own levels of use.
