In this processes and production lesson we setup this blog and focussed on linking it to other online site in order to have a wide web presence.
We used 'Blogger' to establish the blog and I linked mine to a current gmail account that I already use. A bonus of this is that contacts from one can be linked with this new account, especially with the 'circle' idea of linking accounts.
Having never had a blog before it took a bit of time to get used to the features that were available and how each element functioned in order to create a published blog page. In particular I initially focused on the look of the page by editing the template and layout in the advanced settings tab. I like the 'cool' colour style with pale blues and greys; I think this works well with the white and black tones of the text, plus vividness doesn't distract from the content within.
In the template i was able to add other linking accounts, the first of my own person Pinterest site and then of a newly created Vimeo account. Vimeo will allow me to post videos created in university and will be able to be viewed in correspondence to certain blog posts within my blog.
However I hope to be able to upload a created image of different typefaces to be used as an overall background, this is not currently possible however as the file is too large.
This is the image in which I want to edit and upload. (currently a jpg)
once edited....... (tiff)
Finally with each post I am going to categorise using labels of either "contextual", "process and production", "studio" or "workshop", and date each to be ordered in chronological order.
(As the blog is viewed to users) Links and labels on the right, and date and titles on the left, alongside a personal bio of the course I am completing.
