Work so far
Firstly I used 'Pinterest' to find all the secondary research images I wanted.
Then I composed a 'PowerPoint' of 70 slides of what I would like to include on each page of my sketch book, as a 'mock-up' type document. I used this software so I was able to continue with my planning and research at home as well as on the Apple Mac computers.
Here you can see the large A3 printed out pages scattered out, with 6 slides on each page. As part of this I also measured the size of the sketchbook, its pages and the wallet it slots in to.
I then used the images selected to compose each individual page on Photoshop. I took particular care here to ensure that picture postioning was very accurate, and that text and headers were positioned as best as could be on the page. I also added a small topic reference at the foot of each page. This clearly reflects which wekly topics are being fulfilled on each page on the sketchbook. The ones used are coloured in pink. The pages were then printed and cut using a guilettine. This took some time, as some of the sheets content were slightly different sizes- so each sheet had to be cut seperately after trailing cutting multiple sheets at once.
Next I thought it would be effective if my sketchbook outwardly refelected the content within. To do this I purchased a handbag from a local charity shop to use the handle from. It was difficult to detach in the one I selected, as it was studded together through the zip, but cutting the leather was much more useful than to try to unpick the stitching as I was going to. Once detached I used both double sided sticky tape (to position in the right place) and a glue gun to ensure a sealed bond between cardboard and leather. This then needed to dry and firm before I inserted the sketchbook (as its a tight fit now due to multiple layers)
These two videos display the sketchbook as it stands today. The first video was the work viewed at the initial 'look-through' on the previous friday, with the second video displaying the rest of the primary and secondary research completed.
