analysis of introduction

In this seminar class we were completing collaborative work in order to refine our writing skills.
This was done as an activity to gauge other class mates opinions on how each of our own essays was started and introduced.
Reading each other's and then giving constructive feedback was helpful in initiating the needed changed in order to be more successful in the essay.
We focused on
-strong opening sentences
-original essay titles
-3rd person aspect
-content
-context
-good grammar

In doing this I learnt how opening an essay with "in this essay" is discredited but was still adopted by majority of class mates. In my own essay I also was then able to reflect on how my own opening introductions and abstractions were not straight to the point enough. Many of my sentences were complex-compound, and didn't initially indicate the essay topic that would follow.
This is something that needs to be amended in order to have the best possible opening, and the best possible grade for my work.
